North Queensland Livestock Industry Recovery Agency
The North Queensland Livestock Industry Recovery Agency (NQLIRA) was announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison on 1 March 2019 to assist with the immediate response, recovery and reconstruction efforts in support of North, Far North and Western Queensland communities affected by heavy rainfall and wide-spread flooding in early 2019.
The Agency represents the Government’s long-term commitment to rebuild the region long after the flood waters have receded. The Agency is led by the Honourable Shane L Stone AC PGDK QC, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Advisory Board.
Getting back to business with Nigel and Cat Simmons'
Fifteen days of rain, cold temperatures and strong winds had a devastating impact on Nigel and Cat Simmons’ herd on their Clarafield property, in McKinlay Shire.
They have already made use of the Government’s $75,000 grant to repair fences and restock, and are seeing the beneficial flow on effects of the grant into their local community.
