NQLIRA staff visited a grazing property north-east of Winton heavily impacted by the floods.

CEO Shane Stone and NQLIRA staff hosted a roundtable with charities working in the affected areas, to reflect on what worked well and what could be done differently if another natural disaster hits the region.

  • CEO Shane Stone and NQLIRA staff met with Burke Shire Mayor Ernie Camp and a stock and station agent to discuss the impact of the Moonsoon Trough in that region.
  • CEO Shane Stone and NQLIRA staff met with the group of Mayors whose shires were most heavily impacted by the floods to discuss the role charities have played in the immediate response and longer-term recovery.
  • CEO Shane Stone hosted a table at the Cloncurry Cattleman’s Dinner.
23 May 2019 Cloncurry

Prime Minister Scott Morrison chaired a meeting of the NQLIRA Board with CEO Shane Stone. Later, Mr Morrison and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack joined Mr Stone at a community gathering at the Cloncurry Bowls Club, where they heard how recovery efforts were going.

NQLIRA staff, along with Board members David Galvin and Greg Campbell, and representatives from NQLIRA, Queensland Rural & Industries Development Authority and Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland (RFCSNQ), hosted an information session about grants and other assistance available to primary producers impacted by flood.
